Shah Rukh Khan death threat: Accused tracked actor's movements, tried to get information about his family's security

The recent developments in the death threat case against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan have revealed startling details about the accused, Faizan Khan, and his actions leading up to the threat. Faizan Khan, a lawyer based in Raipur, is under judicial custody for allegedly sending death threats to Shah Rukh Khan and demanding an extortion payment of ₹50 lakh.

According to a report by Times of India, Faizan had been closely monitoring Shah Rukh Khan’s movements, as well as those of his son, Aryan Khan. Investigations have shown that Faizan conducted extensive online searches to gather sensitive information about the security arrangements and daily movements of the actor and his family. This was uncovered through a forensic examination of Faizan's second mobile phone, which was seized by the Bandra Police during their investigation.

The report also states that Faizan had been evasive and inconsistent in his responses to investigators, offering contradictory explanations for his actions. He reportedly failed to justify his invasive search into the personal details of the Khan family. Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan are both under Y-plus security protection provided by the Maharashtra government.

The threat to Shah Rukh Khan was first reported on November 7, when the Mumbai Police received an anonymous call warning of a threat to the actor’s life, accompanied by a demand for ₹50 lakh in extortion money. The call was traced back to Raipur, and investigators identified Faizan Khan as the suspect. Faizan initially claimed that his phone had been stolen and that he was being framed for the threat, but police arrested him on November 12 after further investigation.

Faizan Khan has a history with Shah Rukh Khan, having previously filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police over a controversial line in the actor's 1994 film Anjaam, in which Shah Rukh's character talks about deer hunting. This earlier grievance may have played a role in the motive behind his actions.

Faizan Khan is currently in judicial custody, with his detention extended until November 26.
